‘I’ve got another exciting fact for you two!’ said Foxtrot. ‘Earlier this year, I called in on Marcel, Brent and Marijn, three MAF pilots in Angola. They told me all about a new airstrip that’s been built in Cavango. He was very excited because the airstrip is close to a special hospital, and it’s finally been finished after they started work on it over nine years ago!’
‘Wow, nine years? That’s taken a long time,’ Mike said. ‘Why did it take so long?’
His furry friend continued. ‘It was started in 2014, but then all sorts of changes in the country meant that the work had to be stopped. But last year, MAF staff and people from the local community finally managed to get permission to start work on it again.’
‘What’s so special about it?’ asked Alpha.
‘Well, the nearest hospital is really far away, so any patients needing medical help have a really bumpy car ride – which can’t be good for you if you’re poorly. Fortunately, the new airstrip is only one kilometre away!’
The pilots sent me this video to share with you guys, showing the first time they landed on the new runway!
‘That’s awesome! What a blessing this airstrip will be, helping so many people!’ said the giraffe. ‘Exactly!’ said Foxtrot. ‘This shows that, if we’re persistent in prayer, God can do anything we ask. As it says in Proverbs 16:3, “Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.”’
