‘The last project I completed before heading to meet you guys today was a 200-hour inspection in Chad, Africa. Being an engineer is complex but rewarding work!’ said Foxtrot, swishing his tail.
‘I hope you have some help doing that, it’s a big job,’ remarked Mike.
‘Yes, my friend Geoff came over from Uganda to help me look at MAF Chad’s two planes. One is called a Cessna Caravan, and other is a Cessna 182. We looked inside the aircraft with a borescope –a special tiny camera that can squeeze into small gaps.
‘We carefully checked the engine to make sure it was running well, and then fully inspected the airframe – that is the name for the structural parts of the plane.’
‘And I thought flying was challenging!’ Alpha chipped in. ‘MAF needs more people like you, Foxtrot. You can never have enough engineers keeping our planes in tip-top condition. Your work makes our job as pilots so much easier, knowing we have a reliable plane!’
Foxtrot continued, pointing out that, ‘Because there’s a worldwide shortage of aircraft maintenance engineers, MAF Chad has recently taken a local man called Nekob “under their wing” – excuse the pun!
‘They trained him up, with my friend Geoff helping him to maintain our aircraft. Everyone at MAF works really hard to honour God. As it says in Colossians 3:23, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.”’
‘I know that MAF supports people to become aircraft engineers,’ said Mike, ‘and I know they’re always looking for new people to join. In fact, if you know of anyone, do let me know! We’re looking for people like my friend Matt, who’s going to be a fully-fledged MAF engineer soon, after he’s graduated from university. People like Matt are the future of MAF!’
