Foxtrot suddenly smiled and then grinned at Alpha and Mike, ‘I’ve got a good question for you!’

‘Go on then!’ said Mike curiously.

‘What can you do with old aircraft tires? I’ll give you a clue, if you use them too much, you might get ‘tired’ yourself!’ said Foxtrot, with a giggle.

‘Hmmm, old aircraft tires, that’s tricky…’ said Alpha. ‘I know that they don’t have any metal inside them like car tires do, so I know they are easier to recycle. But what could people do with them?’

‘We don’t know, please tell us. We’re intrigued!’ said Mike, impatiently.

‘Well, when I went to do some aircraft maintenance in the hangar in Angola, the MAF mechanics there told me that the local people came to them and asked if they could have the old plane tires to make into durable rubber sandals! That’s why I said if you use them too much – if you walk to far – you might get tired. They can use them for their families, and they can make extra ones and sell them, earning some money.’

‘That’s great,’ said Alpha, ‘what a clever idea. It’s a great way of recycling, so it’s good for the environment, and it’s helpful for the local community too.’

Foxtrot reminded the group, “Yes, it is, after all God asked us to look after the planet, right from the moment when He created it. When He created the first person, Adam, He ‘took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it.” Genesis 2:15’

‘I’m so glad that people are really getting on board with changing their habits in order to save the planet. Recycling and being careful with how we live our lives is something we can all do, isn’t it.’ said Mike. ‘I wonder what other things we can recycle or make into something new?’
