All of a sudden, the lights went out, leaving the room shrouded in darkness. ‘What happened, why is it all dark?’ said Mike shakily, trying hard to sound brave in front of his friends.

A few short moments later, the light returned and flooded the room with colour again.

‘That’s better! This must have been what it was like when God said, “Let there be light!” when He made the world and I agree with Him, light is very good!’ chuckled Foxtrot.

‘I think the bad weather outside may have just caused a little power cut!’ exclaimed Alpha. ‘We’re very fortunate that this doesn’t happen very often, aren’t we! Imagine we lived somewhere where the electricity supply is so poor and unreliable that you sometimes don’t have lights at all once the sun goes down, or power for your fridge overnight,’ she continued.

‘I’ve seen the struggles first-hand when I flew in Papua New Guinea with the technology team recently. I did a delivery of solar panels for the roof of a special medical centre for women who are about to give birth, so they can have their babies safely no matter what time of day or night,’ said Foxtrot.

‘That’s a great idea! And solar panels use the power of the sun, which is a renewable source of energy, meaning it’s good for the environment and doesn’t rely upon delivery of fuel to operate like old generators,’ said Mike.

‘When I flew back to the birthing hut, called a ‘waiting hut’ in Papua New Guinea, I met Joyce and her bouncy baby Stanley – the first to be born there. Joyce was really grateful for the light as some of her other children were born in complete darkness!’
